Touched by the Sea

A place to just enjoy the feeling and happiness of being close to water

A place to just enjoy the feeling and happiness of being close to water

My shed is a hide-away on the edge of the shore a simple 3,3x3,3 design in wood, with a porch wrapped around its entire volume, opening up for light to find its way in through the ceiling, as well as creating two pockets - two mini porches. One can serve as entrance as the other one serves as the bridge leading to the sea.

The "ribbon" of wood that wraps around as the porch also gives character to a more simple design and contrast by being made out of a different type of wood, or different colour, depending on the users preferences!

My location is the Swedish West coast. A rough climate during many of the months of the year but a place that for a few summer months is the perfect place to enjoy the rare warmth and the beauty of the ocean. To be useful for a bit longer, my shed is insulated and could work as an addition to a larger house, or just as a cabin for those who wants to wake up to the sound of waves and seagulls!

Its not superpractical, but i do like the idea, and the different types of wood contrasting eachother, and i enjoy the visualisation of the project too :)

I want one
by: Filipe

I find this Shed quite magic. Not only for its shape - simple but with a subtle inclination on the side walls that gives it a timeless aesthetic value, strong but elegant - but also for its porch - I've always been attracted for objects that are changeable and specially if the change adds features, like this one does -.

I would love to have one of these near the sea, so I could jump right into the water!

Wonderful!
by: Nikolas

Interesting idea! I like that your design stimulates the senses as the shed grasps the outside and pulls it inside by taking the inside and pulling it outside. It is nice how the porch breaks the box and modifies it to something new. It is like an opening bud reaching for the sea, the smell, the sound, the sense and your soul.
Good place to relax!

The rendering is amazing, but I don't think it's very practical.

Nice!

I like the interaction between inside and outside. It is the right way to communicate with landscape for a location like this.
The wrapped porch splits the shed, defines the entrance, opens it up for the light and forms the walkway to the sea. Fantastic!
I wish I could just close my eyes to be there...

Summer
by: Lennart

This seems like a good addition to a bigger house and as useful on the East coast of Sweden as the West. It opens up to the summer wind in an exhilirating way. And presents itself to the eye with a lot of surprises. So it is hard to resist.

It´s like a wonderful nature gift with the ribbon around. I would love to be in it and hear, feel and smell the ocean around me and see the wonderful light from the west coast sky. I love it!!!

Would love to spend summers here.

Love the elegant form and the way it sits so lightly. Beautiful! So clever the way the walls embrace and shelter while letting in so much natural light. Nice porch. Would love to spend summers here.

I want to live in it
by: Ankit

It's beautiful. I like the idea of allowing the light to trickle in through the ceiling. I'm imagining a late summer night, the moonlight casting vague shadows inside the shed, the gentle caressing of the waves... or just sitting out on the bridge and soaking my feet in the water. Excellently done!
