[Shed Building Monthly] Competition Judges Announced
April 05, 2010

Shed Building Monthly

Issue 20 - April 2010

Hi,

Welcome to the April edition of Shed Building Monthly.

I mentioned last month that I would soon be announcing the judges for the Porch Shed Competition. The panel of judges form a great team that cover many of the requirements to spot great shed designs coming as they do from the fields of garden design, design and architecture.

Study the brief introductions below and follow the links to find out more about the people who will be deciding the three finalists for the porch shed comp.

James Alexander-Sinclair – Is a garden and landscape designer, writer, television presenter and speaker. One of the features of the porch shed competition is the way that the porch links the shed with the garden. Many of the first entries really recognise this aspect of the competition so I am looking forward to seeing the entry that James selects.

Justin Anthony owner and editor of materialicious.com the visual curation site. Given the large number of stylish objects that appear on his site he is in a prime position to select a winning entry.

Su Butcher is the Practice Manager of Barefoot & Gilles, a specialist London firm of Architects and Development Consultants, so she knows a thing or two about selecting winning designs.

Finally the person with the task of choosing the overall winner from the three finalists is Alex Johnson of Shedworking and the winner will be announced on the 6th June 2010 the day of the launch of his new book.

As a quick reminder please sign up to the RSS feed (its that orange button beneath the left hand navigation bar on the secrets-of-shed-building homepage). There is likely to be quite a few entries to this competition and the pace is likely to ‘hot up’ considerably as the closing date draws near, using the RSS feed helps you keep abreast of the entries as they come in.

Keep designing and see you next month when there will be only two weeks to go (Competition closing date 15th May 2010)

John

PS. I was contacted by another website owner who is currently running a shed design competition. If you have designs flowing you might want to pay a visit to the Waltons sheds website to see what’s going on over there. The closing date for the Waltons competition is 30th April.
